Transneft Baltic has completed a comprehensive test run and commissioned a petroleum products pipeline to supply jet fuel for jet engines to the storage facility of Sovex, which provides fuel to Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg.
The pipeline with the total length of 31 km consists of a section of Krasny Bor – Morskoy Port pipeline and an offshoot to the airport with the length of 310 m and the diametre of 250 mm.
The infrastructure complex of the newly constructed petroleum products pipeline and offshoot includes a PIG trap, a mud-trap filter assembly and a safety valves assembly that protect pipeline against overpressure.
It is planned to perform in-line diagnostics of the new petroleum products pipeline using Transneft Diascan’s in-line inspection tools when the air temperature is above zero.
After elimination of possible defects, the new petroleum products pipeline will be commissioned in late 2019. The existing Krasny Bor – Pulkovo petroleum products pipeline will be decommissioned for diagnostics and consideration of the possibility of its further use.
Transportation of jet fuel manufactured by Kirishi Refinery via the Krasny Bor – Pulkovo petroleum products pipeline to Pulkovo Airport is performed by Krasny Bor line operation dispatcher station (LODS) (Leningrad Region).
In 2018, Transneft Baltic transported 182 thousand tonnes of jet fuel of TS-1 highest grade via the petroleum products pipeline to ensure supplies to Pulkovo Airport.
