Transneft Baltic Completes Revamping of the Regional Control Centre for Trunk Pipeline Management

Date of publication: 21 February 2018 Print

Transneft Baltic has completed the revamping of the regional control centre (RCC) for managing trunk pipelines located in the Company’s operational responsibility zone.

The main regional control centre is quartered in the Transneft Baltic executive office building in St. Petersburg. The works were carried out within the framework of the Transneft Baltic technical upgrading and revamping program. The aim is to provide dispatchers with standard working conditions in view of higher transportation volumes after oil trunk pipelines of the Baltic pipeline system-2 running towards the port of Ust-Luga (in April 2016) became affiliated with Transneft Baltic and the throughput capacity of petroleum product pipelines towards the port of Primorsk expanded.

As a result of revamping, the control centre is outfitted with brand-new modern equipment, including dispatcher control and communication systems. The RCC allows for 24-hour monitoring of the operational safety at any section of the Transneft – Baltic pipeline.

The RCC structure includes oil and petroleum products transportation control centres, a training simulator for dispatching personnel, an online archive room, offices for executives as well as lunch rooms and sanitary premises. Specialized ergonomic furniture enhances the dispatching personnel comfort.

By now, fit-out works have been completed in the main premises of the regional control centre, and the staff is moving to new offices. The relocation proceeds while the personnel continue to work so that no pipeline shutdown is required.
